Fit and raring to go

Sandor Egervari held the final training session at Telki on Wednesday afternoon, before his squad travelled out to Sweden on Thursday morning. The European qualifier will be played in Stockholm, on Friday.

Quiet day in Telki



Tuesday was a much quieter day at Telki, compared to Monday’s. The players trained behind closed doors, and away from the photographer’s camera lenses. International manager Sandor Egervari, held two training sessions during the day, as they look forward to the match against Sweden, on Friday evening.

U21: Three missed training today



U21 manager Antal Roth held a training session, on Tuesday, for his young side, as they prepare for Saturday’s game with Wales, in Fehervar. Two players sat out the session, due to injuries, while Zsolt Korcsmar only arrived at Telki, shortly after training began.

Wales name their squad

The Hungarian U21 side has two home games in the European Championship qualifiers. Antal Roth’s side comes up against Wales U21, on September 4th in Fehervar. Then 4 days later, they face Bosnia U21 in Budapest. Wales have named their squad for the match in Fehervar.

Diosgyőr win at Ujpest

The third weekend of the second division was played out on Sunday. Diosgyőr traveled to Ujpest B, in the east section, and won 4-1. In the west section, Veszprem picked up a win at Győr B.

Bosnian squad announced

The Hungarian U21 side has two home games in the European Championship qualifiers. Antal Roth’s side comes up against Wales U21, on September 4th in Fehervar. Then 4 days later, they face Bosnia U21 in Budapest. Bosnian manager Branimir Tulic has named his squad for the match on the 7th September.

Debrecen are drawn with Sampdoria and PSV.


The draw for the Europa league group stage was made in Monaco, during the week. Debrecen, who fell out of the Champions league, entered the Europa league, and managed to go through to the group stage. They were drawn with Balazs Dzsudzsak’s PSV, Vladimir Koman’s Sampdoria and Ukrainian side Metalist Harkov.

Moldovan squad



Manager Gavril Balint, has named his Moldovan national squad ahead of their two European Championship qualifiers with Finland and Hungary. Moldova entertain Finland at home on the 3rd September. They then travel to Budapest, to face Hungary at the Ferenc Szusza stadium on the 7th September.

Ujpest Legend collapsed at home



Ujpest FC understand that their former legendary player, Andras Torocsik, is in hospital having suffered a brain clot. He was first taken to the Nyiro Gyula hospital, from where he was transferred to the Honved hospital, in Budapest. He required an operation straight away. Torocsik, who played for his country in two World cup finals, fell at his home, banging his head in the process, forming a blood clot to his brain.

Hungarian cup third round draw



The draw for the third round of this season's Hungarian Cup was made at the Hungarian FA's HQ. Ujpest, who were represented by their technical manager, Gabor Egervari, received a bye to the next round. The first division sides enter the cup at this round, with the exception of the Hungarian clubs, Debrecen, Győri ETO, Videoton and ZTE, who participated in European competition this summer.

Olympic Squad: Antal Roth names his squad

The Hungarian U21 Olympic squad has two home games in the European Championship qualifiers coming up. The first of which is a game with Wales U21, on the 4th September, in Fehervar. That game will kick off at 17:30pm. Then the young team will be in action once more, this time at Ferencvaros’ Albert stadium, in a home clash with Bosnia, which will take place on the 7th September, with a 17:00pm kick off.

Hungarian Cup: Third round draw on Wednesday

The draw for the Hungarian Cup third round will take place on Wednesday 25th August, at the Hungarian FA HQ. The first division sides come in at this round, with the exception of those sides that qualified for the European competitions: Debrecen, Videoton, Győri ETO and ZTE FC.

Tickets for the Moldova game go on sale from Thursday

Tickets for the forthcoming European championship-qualifying match, between Hungary and Moldova, go on general sale at IBUSZ tickets offices, around the country, from Thursday. The match will take place on September 7th with a 20:30pm kick off, at Ujpest’s Ferenc Szusza stadium. Tickets are priced at 1800, 2800 and 4000 forint.

The San Marino game will take place at the Ferenc Puskas stadium

The Hungarian international side will face San Marino at the national stadium on the 8th October. The European championship qualifier will be played at the Ferenc Puskas stadium, in Budapest. Sandor Egervari’s side kick off their campaign with a trip to Sweden, on September 3rd. They will then play Moldova, four days later, at Ujpest’s Ferenc Szusza stadium.

Honved beat the champions




The last two matches of the weekend were played out on Sunday. Honved won 1-0 at home to last season’s champions Debrecen. The evening game saw Győri ETO and MTK share the points in a 1-1 draw.
